Our Shared Equipment

Creating opportunities for students to be marketable for future jobs through experience

Creating opportunities for students to be marketable for future jobs in industries includes many different factors. One area is when students have access to learn on industry-grade equipment that is utilized in the current workforce. Many rural school districts are unable to purchase industry grade equipment for their courses which creates barriers for students to be ready to enter the workforce.

The Southwest Colorado Education Collaborative recognized this barrier and provides  access to industry-grade equipment for all of our rural district partners. Our partners are able to utilize this shared equipment for their students to learn the skills needed to be competitive in the future workforce.

We purchase our shared equipment through the guidance of industry and educator experts and provide shared equipment in a variety of modalities based off of the best approach for student access and good stewardship.

Some examples of shared equipment include:

  • A Machining and Fabrication Mobile Learning Lab that holds a CNC Router, Laser Engraver, and 3D Printer.

  • An Environmental Mobile outdoor classroom and trailer

  • HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing training equipment to be checked out for use

  • Environmental equipment and clothing for access to the outdoors and water quality testing.

We are also in the process of purchasing shared health sciences, education, and hospitality/tourism equipment. The accessibility for students and educators to have foundational and cutting edge technology and equipment in their classrooms shifts learner opportunities for entering the workforce and higher education. We are proud to be able to support our rural education partners with this access.

For Educators

SWCEC is pleased to present our inventory and check out process for all shared equipment through a web base portal called myTurn. Here educators can browse through our inventory, select and check out equipment you might not otherwise be able to utilize in your lessons.
